OUR MISSION

Revue {R}évolution is a polymath review of poetry, art, philosophy, and mythology.

We believe in the superior power of impersonality in artistic and literary expression.

We believe all arts are one and stem in mythology, the language of transcendence.

We believe the ability to transcend is intelligence and intelligence is perceptible through language.

We believe in the superior power of impersonality in artistic and literary expression.

Simply put, we ascribe to W.H. Auden's observation that "a poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language," not with themselves.

The previous observation is also relevant for artists, philosophers, and anyone channeling Knowledge.

We believe art and poetry are subtle vessels for knowledge. They pass on metaphysical truths on the art and business of living and therefore, must be cherished as humanity's treasure. 

We believe those who channel Culture must take responsibility for their own evolution and refuse unconsciousness with every fiber of their being.

We believe mythology is the language of anyone who has transcended human suffering, rooted in ignorance of both our innate nature and the fabric of culture.

We believe mythology is the sum narrative of our shared I-am-ness churned in existence, pleasure, suffering, old age, death, and the illusion of identity.

We believe mythology is precious, but not as precious as Reality. For that reason, myth, however beautiful, must be transcended.

We believe art, poetry, and philosophy, like science, serve Knowledge of reality, which is two-fold: Matter and Spirit, outer and inner.

While science is delightful and rigorous observation of matter, poetry is the outcome of rigorous and delightful observation of the spirit.

We believe poetry and art are one and must be elevated at this time.

We believe poetry is the language of awareness, art the manifestation of awareness, and awareness a superior form of intelligence breeding incorruptible knowledge, absolute knowledge; knowledge of the Divine.

We believe "divine," "absolute," "truth," "beauty," "harmony," "awe," and "genius" are pointers, and different pointers work for different people trying to fathom the same reality.

We believe the purpose of poetry, art, philosophy, and existence is to express the divine. Choose your pointer.

We believe in the virtue of effort, Discipline, and impersonality as they facilitate the expression of genius, and preserve culture, Life.

In art, poetry, philosophy and life, we believe discipline only comes to seekers who have found and recognized their Master; "discipline"

is derived from "disciple."

Dominum cognoscite vestrum, says Ovid.

Once and for all, we believe the arts of discerning, thinking, feeling, and expressing (in that very order) illuminate creators of culture and prepare humans for Enlightenment: the only Renaissance we need, and a birthright.

«Our Engagement to the Community of Poets & Artists Worldwide»

Our engagement to the community of poets and artists worldwide is to support them with access to quality education. Many of us are self-taught and often lack comprehensive practical knowledge in thinking, writing, and art, essential skills for any poet and artist intending to serve culture as a professional. This gap in understanding often gives rise to challenges like imposture, talent stagnation, creativity degradation, and, ultimately, failure. 

To overcome these challenges and nurture genuine intellectual growth, professionalism, and sustainability among our community of poets and artists, our magazine commits to providing structured and excellent education in poetry, mythology, art, and philosophy (and we are doing so in two languages: English & French). Providing structured and excellent education to poets and artists involves giving access to quality literature and mentorship from accomplished poets and artists who, through their practice and multicultural backgrounds, have risen to erudition and contributed significantly to elevating culture, standing as role models.

Our approach in pursuit of these goals is embodied in a set of impactful tools, detailed below:

1.Thriving in Cultural Reunion:

Revue {R}évolution’s goal to reunite the vibrant cultures from the East, West, and Africa is not driven by romanticism but rather realism. In an age of acute compartmentalization hindering artistic, intellectual, and existential exchanges, the deliberate reunification of our diverse cultural threads emerges as the most logical choice. In essence, we advocate for the common denominator in our multifaceted cultural experiences and recognize cultural openness as an opportunity for education and growth. This commitment stems from our belief in the value of finding unity amid diversity.

2.Championing Creative Elegance:

Poetry and art hold significant meaning for humanity. The mission entrusted to the poet-artist is to discern that meaning and articulate it with the utmost elegance and clarity. In this pursuit, the mastery and refinement of language become both the method and the goal. Revolution {R}évolution is committed to assisting poets and artists in their pursuit of clarity and heightened elegance in thought and form. Through our curated publications, community of authors, artists, and resources, we aim to empower them to continually illuminate the depths of the human experience with precision and grace.

3.Striving for Genius in Creative expressions:

Revue {R}évolution fervently champions the pursuit of transcendence in both creative expressions and philosophy. In the context of the poet-artist, transcendence is the commitment to rise above intellectual and artistic trivialities, and reach the Spirit of all thoughts and forms, thereby avoiding creative stagnation, and regression into meaninglessness. Transcendence propels the creative mind toward the pursuit of superior meaning, supreme knowledge, and genius, acknowledging that the essence of genius lies in its elusive nature. Furthermore, transcendence serves as the vital link connecting the poet, artist, and philosopher to the absolute, the Divine, representing the epitome of genius itself.

4.Honoring and Promoting Devotional Poetry and Art:

In the contemporary landscape, religions find themselves in a precarious position, often endangered by the political institutions they have come to represent. Amidst this peril, the core message and intention of these religions have momentarily faded into the background. However, the essence of their philosophical legacy continues to shine through in the timeless wisdom of their canons.

Revue {R}évolution draws inspiration from the symbolic beauty embedded in these literary traditions, which have given birth to exquisite poetry. Additionally, we find inspiration in the unparalleled beauty found in humanity's places of worship, a beauty that artists have endeavored to capture in their masterpieces throughout history.

With a deep appreciation for these mystical, rich traditions, Revue {R}évolution aspires to elevate poetry and art to a refined level reminiscent of the sublime found in authoritative sacred literature, from the Bible to the Vedas, acknowledging the enduring impact of devotional poetry and art in shaping the human experience. 

Through this effort, our goal is straightforward: to revive the inherent connection between poetic expression and philosophical depth. In addition to promoting excellent poetry and art as per the criteria enumerated above, we are dedicated to fostering interfaith dialogue and enhancing understanding of atheism. Our commitment is clear – to educate, promote, publish, and honor any poet or artist who contributes or wishes to contribute to culture with a respectful consideration of religion. Our main tool to do so is to help poets and artists discover, understand, interpret, reinterpret, and when necessary, break free from mythology.

5.Acknowledging Non-Duality:

By promoting the pursuit and expression of Harmony in poetry, art, and philosophy, we recognize the interconnectedness of all creative disciplines. We acknowledge Reason as the common denominator and channel of expression of Creativity. Our philosophy is based on the philosophy of non-duality (also known as Advaita Vedanta) and is universal. We are committed to help poets and artists elevate their practices in that perspective.
